Hamburg, NY - Forever Home
Custom Kitchen Cabinets, Full Kitchen Remodel & Interior Design
When you fall in love with a forever home because of the front porch, the kitchen has to live up to that same charm. This family knew the home needed room to grow, but it was just as important to preserve the character that made it so special in the first place.
We worked to maintain original elements—like the beautiful brick walls—while thoughtfully adding a new kitchen space designed for real life. A place where you can truly cook, gather, and live day to day without sacrificing style or warmth. Now, this family of seven has the space to share meals, stay organized, and grow together—all while holding onto the heart of their home.
And yes… the custom cabinetry is packed with all the storage you could ever need
This main level remodel was such an amazing transformation! After moving into their home, the clients knew they wanted to update the main level to be more functional for their family, while also reflecting the playful yet traditional style they love.
Before
Before construction began, we determined the layout of the addition, kitchen layout and cabinet elevations. We worked through renderings to give the clients a visual of what the space would become. In the kitchen, the plan was to expand the space to allow for ample storage, seating for the kids, and room for cooking. This also allowed us to frame out a space to incorporate a small seating area for the parents a space of their own.
Renderings are always such a helpful tool for clients to be able to visualize what their space will look like before construction begins and also helps us make decisions as well.
Design Approach
As a design and build project, we focused on both form and function.
Key design decisions included:
Reworking the layout to improve flow
Designing custom cabinets to maximize storage
Selecting materials that balanced durability and style
Opening the space for better flow and function
The kitchen feels so much bigger now! By taking down the wall between the dining and kitchen, we were able to open up this space and create a better flow throughout. Although this is a galley kitchen, there is plenty of space between the range wall and sink wall for lots of traffic and cooking to happen.
